President
Margaret Otis called the meeting to order at
1:00
with the Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence.
Civic Beautification Awards:
Irene Mitchell announced that Mary Lou Krause from W.
Harwich won the neighborhood award and Kreeger Pottery from
Harwich
Port
won the commercial award.
President’s Report: Covering
summertime activities, Margaret thanked Joann Root and Shade
Cronan for the Garden Tour, Peg Erdlen for the newsletter,
Phyllis Burnham and Judie Paleschi for the Year Book.
Margaret encouraged members to read the minutes on our
website and to check on our other activities as well.
She reminded the members of our annual collections for
the Food Pantry,
Baby
Center
and cash donations for teenaged boys. Margaret then thanked
those who participated in Civic Beautification, the Taste of
Harwich and Ways and Means (vests and note cards).
Secretary’s Report: Accepted
Corresponding Secretary’s Report: In the absence of
Sharon Oudemool Margaret reported that notes were received from
the Harwich Ecumenical Council for the Homeless, Tom Blute of
Crosby Monuments, and from Elaine Petropoulos for the card and
plant sent after her husband’s death.
For the 75th Anniversary Celebration thank you
notes were sent to Jeanne Tassinari, Cathy Dillon, Ann Paus,
Ardeos, West Dennis Yacht Club and
Crosby
Monuments
. For their efforts
with the Garden Tour thank you notes were sent to Nan Poor and
Joann Root. Get well
cards were sent to Pat Balicki, Kathie Marin, Glee Janson,
Arlene Bowler, and Kay Grua.
A sympathy card was sent to the family of Any Hedmark.
Priscilla Hiscox is currently in
Cape Cod
Hospital
.
Treasurer’s Report: Accepted
Membership: Carrie
Wailgum reported 110 members and 10 associate members were
present. The
following new members were introduced: Gale Conroy, Peg Murphy,
Nancy Pollard, Amy Natiello, Deborah Skinner, Kathleen Welch,
Eleanor Casey and Carol Jewers.
Program: Jeanne
Tassinari reminded members of the December tea at CBI.
Give your check for $30 to Sue Mills.
In April we will have an Art-in-Bloom program with
paintings based on flower arrangements.
Bus Trip: To
reserve for the Plimouth Plantation trip, send Sue Hart check
for $50. Lunch at
Isaccs.
Civic Beautification: Irene Mitchell needs help with fall
cleanup in October. Please
sign up to help. Alieen DeMusey is running the Daffodil Sale.
Design Workshops and Christmas Boutique: See Doris Casey for
the fall-arrangement workshop September 27. For
the Boutique November 30 from 6-9pm Lynne Drummond needs members
to setup, bake, bring white elephants, etc, and clean up.
We need your time, talent and team work.
Chamber of Commerce: Carole
Davis and Glee Janson have scheduled four workshops in October
to rewire and re-bow the town pole wreaths.

Barbara Winchell is in charge of the Public Building
Wreaths and has scheduled workshops October 3 from
9:30-12:30
.
Bridge Luncheon: Ann
Lawson reported on the first fund-raising event, the Bridge
Luncheon October 25. Be sure to submit the full names of all
those at your bridge table when making a reservation.
Elaine Sampson needs ten more waitresses for this event.
There will be three tables of 10 people who just want to
attend for lunch and socialize.
