President
Jeanne Tassinari called the meeting to order at 1:00 PM.
Jeanne read member responsibilities from our booklet.
She announced that the Plant Sale gross so far is
approximately $4800.
Secretary’s
Report of the May 4 meeting had been emailed.
It was accepted with 2 corrections.
Treasurer’s
Report for May 26 was accepted for file (Copy attached).
The proposed budget for 2010 – 2011 was presented and
approved (copy attached).
Corresponding
Secretary Carrie
Wailgum reported that thank you cards were received from Mary
McKevitt for the sympathy cards and dish garden and from Nancy
Carroll of the Dennis Garden Club for being included in our May
program.
Program
Chair
Lynne Drummond said that our own Doris Casey will present the
June program on Creative Window Boxes.
Everyone will receive one raffle ticket with the option
to purchase more.
The programs for 2010-2011 have been finalized.
Our September speaker will be CL Fornari.
Horticulture
Chair
Pattie Tworek
plans to have 4 horticultural competitions next year
(Sep, Jan, Apr, Jun).
She will also arrange a plant swap in the future.
She presented the horticulture awards:
Best in Show, Sue Hart;
1st place, Sue Hart; 2nd place, Sue
Mills; 3rd place, Jeanne Tassinari, and 4th
place, Geri Schumann
Jeanne
announced the following are retiring as committee chairs:
Chamber of
Commerce chair Glee Janson, Scholarship
chair Pearl Fournier and Bridge
Luncheon co-chairs Mimi Foster and Anne Lawson.
Jeanne said that
Christmas Boutique co-chairs Beth Savage and Jeanne Sidoli
are looking for volunteers to run the children’s table and
baked items. They
are also looking for horseshoe crabs (in good shape), pods and
driftwood.
Civic
Beautification co-chair Irene Mitchell introduced Shirley Banford
from the Friends of the Library who thanked the Garden Club
profusely for planting the parking entrance to the Library.
Irene also asked for volunteers to water Brooks Park and
Brooks Academy this summer.
Blooming
Barrel co-chair
JoAnn Root reported that 42 barrels have been planted.
She presented plants to 4 members who are retiring from
this committee:
Mary Dillon, Mary Kocot, Rosemary Gaisford, and Joan
Garrity.
Ways
and Means chair
Linda Felice said that all the aprons are gone.
Membership
Chair
Sue Hart said that 112 members were present today.
She welcomed 4 new members Patricia Greenwood, Diane
DiGennaro, Sally Cohen, and Nancy Diehl DiGiovanni and presented
each with a plant..
OLD
BUSINESS
Jeanne
thanked Dottie Miller and Judy Tierney for doing garden therapy
at Epoch. She also
told us about a number of upcoming garden tours and flower
shows.
NEW
BUSINESS
We
want to upgrade the pole wreaths and possibly replace them with
real wreaths. Laurel
Ferry asked for volunteers to work with her on ideas.
The
meeting adjourned at 1:35 PM.
