WE DID IT!  WE REACHED OUR 75TH ANNIVERSARY PLANT SALE GOAL OF $7500!
Return to June 5th Minutes

Eighty percent of our members contributed plants—several many more than required.  I have to mention one in particular who was truly responsible for putting us over the top.  Elinor Dinsmore and her husband George donated over 200 plants brining in roughly $1400.00.  What a wonderfully generous gesture.  We are very grateful to both of them.

Sue and Joan of bake sale fame, Mimi Foster and her boutique team, and Jo with her raffle effort all exceeded last year’s proceeds….over $2750.00.

The members who helped arrange patio pots and hanging baskets in advance deserve special thanks as do those who made colorful arrangements independently.  These items added in the neighborhood of $1000.00.

Barbara Kodak & I had 100% participation by 16 area nurseries for an additional $500.00.  Doris & Mary’s publicity attracted the customers.

The gods were with us for good weather for 2 days of deliveries and pricing at Barbara Smith’s AND for the morning of the sale.  Within an hour on Saturday morning Doane Park magically morphed into a garden center.  A line of customers formed before 8:00, and President Jean & VP Joan were very busy cashiers.  The plants got legs; almost everything was gone by 11:30.  By 12:30 the park was again magically restored to its pristine beauty.

Many potters, drivers, trucks, trailers, wagons, customers, bakers AND a few husbands made it happen.  I cannot list them all, but they know who they are.  Everyone was so willing to help that I never had to plead or lose any sleep worrying it would all come together.  And, I appreciate the lack of early a.m. phone calls!  Last but not least, many thanks to VP Margaret for creating the club’s web site and keeping me on my toes with communication to members.

There’s always room for improvement, but I’d be hard pressed to say where.  Thank you one and all for everything.  Have a fabulous summer and be of good health.  Gerie
